Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Mountain driving expertise. Load and unload goods. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Bill of lading. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Maintenance and repair reports. Trans-border documentation. Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Transportation/travel experience: International. Local. Long-haul. National. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel cross-border. Willing to travel for extended periods. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Sitting. Weight handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Cellular phone. Steel-toed safety boots.
