Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: At heights. Noisy. Dusty. Outdoors. Work setting: Various locations. Commercial. Industrial. Tasks: Install built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel. Install or replace asphalt shingles, wood shingles and shakes and masonry or baked clay roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings. Install single-ply roofing system using waterproof sheet materials, such as modified plastics, elastomeric or other asphaltic compositions. Repair or replace single-ply roofing systems. Instruct apprentices. Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools. Area of specialization: Conventional and inverted built-up system. Modified roofing system. Single ply sheet membrane roofing system. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Work under pressure. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Personal suitability: Dependability. Excellent oral communication. Team player. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.
