Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Tasks: Lay out reference points and patterns. Plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal most efficiently. Study engineering drawings and blueprints. Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements. Assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures. Set up and operate heavy-duty metal-working machines. Construct patterns and templates. Security and safety: Bondable. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Hand-eye co-ordination. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Attention to detail. Fast-paced environment. Overtime required.
