Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brakes Endorsement. Class 3/3F/DF Licence (trailer truck, vehicles with more than 3 axles). Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Trip recorder (on-board computer). Security and safety: Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Weight handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Reliability. Team player. Dependability. Experience: Experience an asset.
