Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Align and manipulate sections of pipe or drill stem from a platform on the rig derrick
  • Operate and maintain drilling rig diesel motors, transmissions and other mechanical equipment
  • Assist in setting up, taking down and transporting drilling and service rigs
  • Manipulate sections of pipes or drill stems at rig floor during drilling and during removal and replacement of pipes, drill stems and drill bits
  • Handle, sort and move drill pipes, tools, cement and other materials
  • Clean up rig areas
  • Assist in setting up, taking down and transporting drilling and service rigs and service equipment

Credentials

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses 

  • Standard First Aid Certificate
  • Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate
  • Rig Worker Fall Protection
  • Confined Space Entry Training
  • Fall Arrest Protection Training Course
