Job details
*Shift : 3 pm to 11:30 pm ( includes weekends , on a rotation )*
*job summary*
The addictions counsellor will provide counselling, instruction and support to individuals with issues related to substance use .
*Reports to*: General Manager
*Duties and responsibilities*
· Deliver rehabilitation activities
· Facilitate instructional, educational and recovery workshops and counselling sessions
· Produce thorough and accurate case notes and related documentation
· Perform one-on-one therapy counselling
· Intervene in a de-escalate crisis situations and suicide risk intervention
· Collaborate with client to develop a client-centered and strength-based recovery plan
· Collaborate with health care professionals and social workers in a multi-disciplinary team
· Lead counselling sessions using evidence-based intervention strategies
· Administer breathalyzer and drug screening and keep records
· Perform administrative duties for admissions and discharge of clients
· Deliver daily activities and assist in the provision of individualized care plans
· Accompany clients to outings and monitor clients while at the outings
· Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and document it accordingly
· Provide companionship and engage in meaningful activities with clients
· Follow the rules, policies and regulations of the Detox Centre of Manitoba
· Perform administrative tasks
*Requirements and qualifications*
· Minimum grade 12 diploma/degree and relevant pos-secondary education such as counselling and social work. Other related programs will be considered
· Reasonable experience with bio-psychosocial assessments and client-centered and strength-based recovery plans
· Reasonable experience with after-care rehabilitation plans for clients and their families
· Respectful of cultural diversity
· Organized, resourceful and able to follow a schedule
· Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous history, culture, practices, customs and beliefs, including unresolved trauma, stressors, domestic violence, addiction and mental health
· Ability to communicate effectively
· Ability to work independently and multitask
· Client-oriented and friendly
· Time management skill
· Working knowledge of Microsoft office programs
· First Aid/CPR would be an asset
· Having a valid class 5 Manitoba Driver?s license would be an asset
· Successful applicants will be subject to provide a Police Record Check/Police Vulnerable Sector Check ( Winnipeg Police Service )
