Job details
Education: Bachelor's degree. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Estimating. Willing to relocate. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Prepare pre-qualification submissions to present clients . Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Operate CADD and other computer software systems. Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects. Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets and bids forms. Utilize quantity take-off procedures. Advise on tendering procedures. Analyze tenders and recommend awards. Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems. Monitor and adjust contract expenditures. Prepare and maintain directory of supplies and trade contractors. Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Read blueprint, schemas and drawings. Review purchase order claims and contracts to determine compliance with company policy. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Gold Seal Membership in the Canadian Construction Association. Membership in the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors. Membership in the Professional Corporation for Estimators. Type of drafting: Shop drawings. Computer and technology knowledge: MS Project. Technical terminology: Engineering. Type of experience: Architecture. Commercial and/or industrial construction. Project size estimating experience: $500,001 - $1,500,000. Area of work experience: Purchasing, procurement and contracts. Civil engineering experience: Buildings and structures. Area of specialization: Project management. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence.
