Exciting career opportunity with a growing School District! <p>School Meals Program Coordinators On-Call <p> <p>If you enjoy working with school-aged children and only want to work part-time, working as a School Meals Program Coordinator at SD62 could be what you are looking for. School Meals Program Coordinators play a vital role in the lives of children at our schools by assisting to provide lunches during their lunch time. Assignments are one hour a day working at either an <p>Elementary (Grades K-5) or Middle (Grades 6-8) School. <p>About the District?. <p> Adjacent to Victoria on southern Vancouver Island, School District No. 62 (Sooke) is the fastest growing school district on Vancouver Island and one of the fastest growing districts in BC. The District operates in five municipalities: Langford, Colwood, Metchosin, Sooke and the Highlands and acknowledges the traditional territories of the Coast Salish: T?Sou-ke Nation and Scia?new Nation and Nuu-chah-nulth: Pacheedaht Nation. We also recognize some of our schools reside on the traditional territory of Esquimalt Nation and Songhees Nation. The District employs over 2,000 educators and support staff and serves over 13,000 students The District?s Strategic Plan looks ahead to the future and focuses on three priority areas: learning, engagement and growth. <p>What we offer? <p><p> A starting wage of $27.25 per hour, five hours per week, 10 months per year (September 1 to June 30)<p> Opportunities for other positions at the District such as custodial, noon-hour or bus supervision assistant, crossing guards and more?<p> <p> Once you are permanent you will get:<p> <p> Paid vacation during Winter and Spring Break (as per the CUPE Local 459 Collective Agreement)<p> Two (2) Professional Developments days and one (1) self-directed professional development day per school year plus access to additional funds for further professional development such as course fees<p><p>What you need to apply... <p>As a School Meals Program Coordinator, we are looking for candidates that have a passion for working with children and demonstrate patience and understanding to support a welcoming and safe environment for children. They will assist in the distribution of lunches for the lunch program. Candidates should also have the following education and experience:<p><p> Secondary school graduation<p> Up to three months of related experience working with school-aged children<p> Holds (or willing to get) a valid FoodSafe Level 1 Certificate<p> Willing to authorize the completion of a required Criminal Record Check<p> <p><p>QUALIFICATIONS: <p><p> Completion of secondary school, coupled with successful completion of the Foodsafe Basic Level Course or be willing to undertake the course and have some related experience.<p> <p> <p> A demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.<p> <p> <p> Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with young students, teachers and other adults.<p> <p> <p> An ability to keep a simple set of books.<p> <p> <p> Appreciation of the confidential nature of all information relating to students, parents and teachers.<p><p> <p>RESPONSIBLE TO: School Administrative Officers and Community LINK Coordinator<p> <p>SUPERVISES: N/A<p> <p>JOB GOAL: To provide a well organized, smoothly functioning school lunch program.<p> <p>Performance Responsibilities:<p> <p><p> Provides feedback on upcoming menus to the caterer and administration on a regular basis.<p> <p> <p> Ensures menus are printed and distributed to all students.<p> <p> <p> Oversees the collection of monies from the students and balances with receipts.<p> <p> <p> Determines the monthly parental contributions, based on a set per meal amount, and prepares monthly consent forms for distribution to students.<p> <p> <p> Keeps track of lunch program participants.<p> <p> <p> Assists in duties relating to the supervision of students.<p> <p> <p> Helps with the meal service and clean up of the serving area after each meal.<- LocationVictoria, BC
