*Duties & Responsibilities*
* Deliver services to the dental clinic
* Provide clinical Dental services that includes but is not limited to examinations, direct restorations, crowns, root canals, simple and surgical extractions, and denture care.
* Be comfortable dealing with emergency dental conditions and providing urgent care as required
* Review orders for equipment, dental materials, equipment maintenance, and supplies for use in the clinic, ensuring IPAC compliance and other miscellaneous duties related to clinical support.
* Adhere to support AHT's vision and policies programs and directives.
* Working with digital radiographs (XCP, PAN, BW), engaging with patients to create a comfortable and friendly experience
* Perform various clerical duties, scheduling clients' next appointments, collaborating with other health providers and care within AHT, including maintenance of treatment planning, updating and reviewing records, and assisting the provider with recording findings in dental software
* Performs the duties of a team lead in a clinical setting, which includes ensuring effective teamwork and efficient flow of clients
* Understanding of Ontario Public Health Standards and an understanding of practice within a public setting
* Understanding of barriers to oral health care in the community; and ability to adapt and promote a positive safe space while engaging with clients.
* Cultural awareness of the social determinants of health and provide excellent customer service to community members and address their inquiries or concerns.
* Provides input into the development of program policies and ensures implementation of policies and procedures in the dental clinic
Qualifications & Experience:
* A Degree in Dentistry from an accredited or recognized Faculty of Dentistry
* A certificate to practice dentistry in Ontario, from the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (certification in good standing must be maintained throughout employment)
* A minimum of 2 years of practice experience, preference will be given to candidates who have dental public health or hospital experience treating patients with urgent needs
* Knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, teachings and ceremonies is an asset
* Knowledge of Public Funded Health programs is required
* Cultural training on Anti-Indigenous racism within Canada?s Health and Dental System is required
* Experience in the use and maintenance of dental instruments and equipment
* Experience in various dental specialties and mobile dental environment is an asset
* Willing to work with vulnerable populations
* Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) practices in a dental practice setting as outlined by Public Health Ontario
* Knowledge of billings and coverage of low-income programs such as OSDCP, HSO, ODSP, OW, CDCP, and insurance claims through NIHB and dental coverage is required- Ability to process claims as an NIHB provider is required
* Ability to work in teams with ethical and professional behavior
* Possession of HARP Certificate is required
* Knowledge of iTero scanner and intraoral photography is an asset
* Knowledge of ABELDent software, iTero, camera, and digital radiography is required
