*Company Overview:*
Kings Transit Authority (Kings Transit) is the inter-municipal services corporation that provides public transit service funded by the County of Kings, as well as the towns of Berwick, Kentville, and Wolfville. When originally incorporated in 1981, the system serviced only between the towns of Wolfville and Kentville. Over the last 43 years, our service has grown to include include stops in Kings, Annapolis and Digby Counties. Public transit systems are at an exciting and critical juncture. Kings Transit Authority has recently undertaken a major review of its delivery of services which includes implementation of new routes, schedules and conversion of the fleet to Battery Electric Buses.
The Authority?s Board of Directors is made up of representatives appointed by the municipal councils in the region. On their behalf, Kings Transit is seeking a General Manager lead us through an exciting period of transition, by serving as the chief executive officer of the Authority and report directly to the Board, within the parameters of the Inter-Municipal Agreement, for the organization's overall management.
*What qualities are needed as General Manager? *
As General Manager, you are the senior administrative leader of the Authority, responsible for the overall management of the organization, ideally with experience in municipal government, or other public sector agencies.
You have suitable academic and professional qualifications and have an ability to build consensus among various stakeholders such as elected officials, municipal partners, staff, other levels of government, contract service providers, and citizens.
Professionally, you have a successful track record of accomplishments along with well-rounded skills in human resources, finance, operations, administration, customer service, public relations, planning, and governance. You have the demonstrated ability to effectively manage large and complex operations and have significant experience in multi-site project management, strategic planning, and employee development and supervision.
Personally, you possess well-developed qualities in communications, problem solving, leadership, and integrity.
*POSITION SUMMARY:*
The General Manager is responsible for the organization?s delivery of public transit services, with a view to strategic planning, fiscal responsibility, service expansion, efficiency, and other changes to improve service to customers and engage employees
In addition, the General Manager is responsible to support the activities of the Board and to keep the board informed of key issues, challenges or changes related to operations.
*PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL To be conducted on an annual basis.*

*JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES*
*1. Human Resources Management*
*1.1. *_*Policy Administration*_. Prepare, maintain, review and update Human Resource Policies as needed, ensuring the fair and equitable application of these policies and compliance with the Labour Standards Code of Nova Scotia.
*1.2. *_*Recruitment*_. Oversee recruitment activities including participation on interview panels, development of recruitment tools and negotiation of offers with prospective staff members.
*1.3*_ *Performance Management & Employee Relations*_. Ensure that thePerformance Evaluation System is reviewed and updated on a regular basis. Conduct and/or manage the job evaluation process, ensuring that proper records are in place to demonstrate that annual appraisals of all staff are carried out.
