<p>School Social Worker/SEL Specialist <p> <p>Position Description: <p>School District 60 is looking for a compassionate, dedicated individual to assist in addressing the emotional and social well-being of our students. We are dedicated to providing services that assist students to develop attitudes, skills and knowledge required to successfully participate in educational experiences. We provide indirect and direct services to the student and/or school community. Our collective knowledge, skills, energy, creativity and empathy support and nurture this process. <p>This position is from September 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025 with the possibility of an extension. This is an exempt position and as such is not eligible for overtime and it is not part of a Union. This position has a salary range of: $66932.00 - $83666.00. Regular hours are up to eight (8) hours per day, however responsibilities require a willingness to work as and when needed.<p>Work Year: 10 month (September 1 to June 30)<p>Hours: 40 hours/week, minimum 8 hours per day - willing to negotiate<p>Benefits: Flexible Benefit Plan<p>Key Duties: <p><p> Provide information, when appropriate, to outside support services to help students with economic, emotional, or physical issues.<p> Provide individual group and family counselling and intervention services during a time of crisis with the focus of connecting students and family to community resources/services as appropriate<p> Assist at-risk students or students with disabilities.<p> Communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators to understand students' challenges.<p> Maintain case files and reports to track students' progress and problems.<p> Help students and families suffering from abuse, violence, hunger, or homelessness to access resources like shelters, food banks, and medical care.<p> Consult with school administrators, teachers, support staff, school based team, parents<p> Plan and facilitate in-service training sessions for classroom teachers, youth care workers, educational assistants, and parents<p> Participate as an active member of the School-Based Team (SBT) and District support teams<p> Other job related duties as assigned.<p><p> <p>Qualifications and Attributes: <p><p> A master?s or bachelor?s degree in social work, youth care, psychology or related field required <p> Valid license to practice Social Work in BC preferred<p> Experience within a setting where services related to a person?s social, emotional and life adjustment were required<p> Excellent interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills are required to work at all three tiers of a responsive system, supporting teachers, school teams and parents in developing and strengthening the social and emotional skills of our children & youth<p> Experience in providing liaison between school, home and community agencies, and facilitating referrals for service<p> Must be available to school based-staff at school locations<p> Must be flexible and team orientated<p> The candidate must have a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel to rural and in-town schools<p> Preference will be given to the candidate who has the above skill set plus:<p> Ability to participate in meetings outside of the regular school day to support learning<p> <p> Participating as an active member of the School-Based Team (SBT) and District support teams<p> Qualifications and experience in counselling children/youth<p> Knowledge and skills to develop and support district protocols such as: Safety plan, Crisis Prevention & Intervention Plans, Emergency Plans, Risk Assessment and Threat Assessments<p> Experience and knowledge of processes such as Wraparound, Restorative Justice, Circle Talks, and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) supports<p> Providing individual group and family counselling and intervention services during a time of crisis with the focus of connecting students and family to community resources/services as appropriate<p> Skills to develop and implement indivi
