This position reports to the Manager, Electrical Services. *The Electrician will:* * Perform routine, scheduled electrical maintenance work, ranging from 24 volts to 13,800 volts, on various related systems such as power systems fire alarm systems, lighting systems and building automation control systems; * Perform troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment, such as interior/exterior lighting, automated clocks, fire alarm, emergency battery packs, preheat coils, washroom hand dryers and analog/digital BAS control devices; * Act as on-call Electrician (and/or on-call Fire Technician) by responding to priority calls requiring immediate attention, such as fire alarm system activation/deactivation, power outage and damaged/exposed electrical equipment; * Work various shift schedules; * Perform electrical installation of new equipment, including installing new outlets, new service entrance panels, new light fixtures, additional fire detection devices and new BAS control devices; * Work with and assist other Facilities Management staff or contacted trades on electrical-related items; * Upon instruction from Facilities Management staff, input data/commands in a BAS or computerized energy management system; * Maintain a clean, safe working area and report unsafe conditions. *Key Skills and Qualifications: * * Licensed Journeyman Electrician certification; * Fire Technician certification; * Current Ontario?s drivers? licence with an acceptable driver?s abstract; * 2-5 years of relevant work experience; * Demonstrated ability to perform electrical installations, maintenance work, troubleshooting and repairs; * Knowledge of Electrical and Fire codes, legislation, regulations, building operation manuals, operating procedures, safety guidelines, policies, and procedures; * Knowledge of specialty tools such as electrical diagnostic meters, power tools and power quality instruments; * Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and equipment specifications; * Demonstrated ability to use PC-based software systems such as BAS or computerized energy management system, Johnson Controls, Lutron Lighting systems, Simplex and Edwards EST# Fire Alarm Systems, and other related software; * Demonstrated knowledge of safety procedures; * Ability to work as a team to brainstorm solutions, as well as independently; * Ability to communicate effectively with staff, Faculty, students, and visitors within the physical space being maintained; * Ability to estimate equipment and component requirements for renovations, installations, and repairs; * Ability to review existing installation(s) and evaluate if additional components/fixtures can be added without compromising the safety and operation of the installation; * Ability to prioritize tasks and continuously assess risks; * Ability to resolve emergency situations. *Salary and Total Rewards: * * Job Group (Class 120), Hourly Scale ($35.46-$37.83)\*; * This position includes full comprehensive benefits including tuition waiver.
