JOB SUMMARY:Reporting to the Ophthalmology Division Head and the designated medical director, the ophthalmologist focuses on the study and treatment of eye diseases. The ophthalmologist works in various clinical contexts to provide a wide range of medical care to patients with eye problems. Duties include screening, evaluation, medical and surgical treatments and follow-up. The ophthalmologist also collaborates with other health care professionals in the delivery of diverse and comprehensive services to patients and their loved ones.REQUIREMENTS: Degree from a recognized medical school and residency leading to obtaining a licence in ophthalmology;A recognized medical school is a school that meets the following criteria; Accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) (in the United States);OR Indicated in the World Directory of Medical Schools with a note for Canada.Recognized certification in ophthalmology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada; Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick; Active membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent liability insurance association; Membership in the New Brunswick Medical Society; Privileges with the Network;Registration with New Brunswick Medicare; Ability to remain calm; Organizational skills; Effective time management skills; Ability to set priorities; Client service focus; Interpersonal skills; Adaptability, Initiative, Creativity Sound judgment; Problem-solving skills; Attention to detail; Interest in furthering knowledge; Sense of responsibility; Ability to communicate with colleagues, patients, families and visitors with tact and courtesy; Ability to guide medical learners and to teach; Ability to work independently and as part a team member; Physical ability to perform assigned duties; Good previous work history (performance and attendance); Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network's management philosophy, and organizational values; Compliance with the rules of confidentiality etablished by the Vitalité Health Network.NOTES:The salary for this position is fee-for-service.Moving expenses allowance.Possibility of a recruitment incentive depending on eligibility, as determined by the Department of Health (return of service required).This job is also posted on NBhealthjobs.For more information about Vitalite Health Network, please visit the Network's website.For more information about the community, please visit the city's website; https://www.moncton.caThe above requirements may be verified through oral, written or practical tests during the selection process.Should there be no fully qualified applicants, this position will not necessarily be reposted.
