*Overview*
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dietary Aide to join our team in a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the nutritional needs of our residents by assisting in meal preparation and ensuring that food safety standards are met. This position is essential in providing quality food service within our hospital or nursing home environment, contributing to the overall well-being of our patients.
*Duties*
* Assist in the preparation and serving of meals according to dietary guidelines and resident preferences.
* Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation areas, utensils, and equipment.
* Follow food safety protocols to maintain high standards of hygiene and prevent contamination.
* Help with inventory management, including receiving and storing food supplies.
* Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal service.
* Support residents during meal times, providing assistance as needed to promote a positive dining experience.
* Maintain accurate records of food handling and preparation activities as required by health regulations.
*Requirements*
* eporting to the Food Service Manager/Food Service Supervisor, a Food Service Worker provides set up, serves meals and is required to complete all clean up involved in meal service.
Scheduled hours are not guaranteed. Candidate must be available for call in shifts.
A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK DAYS, EVENINGS, WEEKENDS, AND STATUATORY HOLIDAYS AND IS AVAILBALE ON SHORT NOTICE FOR CALL INS.
*Responsibilities:*
* Serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
* Serve correct diets to residents according to their individualized diet type/texture and preferences.
* Maintains foods at proper serving temperature.
* Clears plates, loads and operates dishwasher. Cleans pots and pans and utensils following proper procedures.
* Ensures proper storage of food items by labelling and dating items as necessary.
* Assists with maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and resident dining areas.
*Qualifications:*
* Safe Food Handler?s Certificate
* Previous dietary experience preferred in LTC home.
* Food Service Worker Certificate
* Effective communication skills.
* Must physically to able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for the majority of the shift.
* Provide (6 months) Vulnerable Sector check and Offence Declaration
* current (1 year) 2 Step TB test results.
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour
