*Summary*
At Polar Communications, the Drafting Technician?s primary responsibilities will include preparing drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of technical designs using AutoCAD and other drafting programs. The role will mainly focus on the creation of telecommunications utility line assignments and submission to municipalities for review. This includes preparing IFR and IFC packages, bill of material documents, as-builts, etc.
General Responsibilities:
* Develop base mapping, prepare permit drawings, construction drawings, and final as-built drawings in AutoCAD and PDF formats.
* Operate AutoCAD and/or MicroStation at a high level of competency.
* Must be able to interpret redline/sketches from designers, surveyors, and construction field staff.
* Obtain permit approvals such as line assignments from municipalities, crossing and proximity agreements, parks and environmental approvals, etc.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Certificate or Diploma in AutoCAD drafting.
* Working knowledge of GIS software is an asset.
* Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel and Word.
* Ability to source and integrate a wide variety of data (surveys, orthophotos, field mark-ups, GIS and PDF).
* Experience in underground utilities, plant telecommunications including fiber design, pole design and coax cable design.
* Familiarity with City of Edmonton and City of Calgary permitting requirements an asset.
* Ability to communicate and work well with other team members.
Salary: 50-85k a year, which is negotiable based on experience
Please note this is a hybrid-remote position
