The Durham Catholic District School Board is located just east of Toronto and is renowned for providing comprehensive Catholic education to over 25,000 students in 38 elementary schools, 7 secondary schools, and 7 continuing and alternative education centers throughout Durham Region.<p>The Durham Catholic District School Board invites applications from qualified candidates interested in the following position:<p>POSITION: Speech-Language Pathologist (1.0 FTE - Temporary)<p>LOCATION: <p>Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB)<p>Student Services (assigned school locations)<p>650 Rossland Road West<p>Oshawa, ON L1J 7C4 <p>HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. <p>SALARY: As per APSSP Collective Agreement ($69,602 - $101,769 annually)<p>TERM: Start TBD - until further notice (coverage for 12-month Maternity Leave)<p><p><p>Interested candidates are invited to apply through Apply to Education or alternatively email a resume and cover letter to hr@dcdsb.ca. Please indicate the position title in the email subject line.<p><p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY <p>The Speech-Language Pathologist works on a multi-disciplinary team under the administrative authorities of the Superintendent of Education - Student Services and the Senior Manager, Psychological and Speech Language Services/Chief Psychologist. While in a school, the Speech-Language Pathologist is subject to the administrative authority of the Principal and the Superintendent of Education - Family of Schools.<p><p>As a registered member of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario, the Speech-Language Pathologist assumes full responsibility for the provision of Speech and Language services.<p><p>The primary function of the Speech-Language Pathologist is to assist school personnel in meeting the needs of students through assessment, observation and consultation, and/or intervention.<p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <p>? Provides a professional opinion based on standardized measures, informal measures, interviews and observations pertaining to a student?s speech and language<p>? Gathers information on student?s speech and language development and functioning and consults with other professionals.<p>? Writes Speech and Language assessment reports.<p>? Interprets, shares results from such reports, and makes recommendations with school personnel and parent(s)/guardian(s).<p>? Consults with school personnel regarding programming.<p>? Participates in School Team meetings and case conferences as requested.<p>? Interprets speech and language information received from outside agencies.<p>? Prepares and presents in-service programs and workshops as requested.<p>? Assists parent(s)/guardian(s) in accessing appropriate community resources.<p>? Provides individual and/or group intervention.<p>? Carries out additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Education, Manager of Psychological and Speech-Language Services and the Superintendent of Education - Family of Schools.<p>QUALIFICATIONS <p>Education <p>? Speech-Language Pathologist Degree (Masters) or equivalent from an accredited university.<p>? Registered and in good standing or eligible for registration with CASLPO.<p>Experience <p>? Minimum five (5) years? related experience, preferably in a school board setting.<p>Required Skills <p>? Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.<p>? Very strong oral and written communication skills.<p>? Ability to deal confidentially with sensitive information.<p>? Enthusiastic, tactful team member, well organized, positive attitude, mature judgement.<p>? Demonstrated commitment and proven track record in customer service excellence and setting up channels for continuous feedback.<p>? Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.<p>? Ability to multi-task and manage multiple work priorities.<p>?
