If you have experience overseeing engineering related work at the professional level while managing the work of subordinates and consultants, then we would encourage you to apply!Reporting to Senior Manager, Engineering Infrastructure, the Senior Drainage Engineer is responsible for developing design standards relevant to Drainage, including watercourses, culverts, ravines, and flood management features such as dikes; conducts or directs engineering studies pertaining to Drainage, including the inspection and monitoring of program while preparing comprehensive reports including recommendations. In this role, you will be developing the capital program and budget for Drainage; oversee the development of planned maintenance programs; review applications and identify infrastructure required by development. You will take the lead and serve as the technical specialist expert for Drainage responding to and supporting internal and external queries or requirements as required; establish and maintain effective working relations with a wide variety of internal and external contacts and committees in providing information, reports, and assistance on matters related to the work (e.g. Inspector of Dikes, Fraser Basin Council, etc.). Other responsibilities for this position include preparing and developing Asset Management plans and programs across the Engineering Department; providing direction and guidance to staff members including recruitment, performance management, training and coaching; conducts investigations and administers discipline. You may represent the department at grievance hearings, arbitrations and labour management meetings and performs related work as required.Qualifications include a university degree in Engineering, Professional Engineering designation (P. Eng) and a minimum of 15 years of professional engineering experience. This role requires the ability to assign, supervise and review the work of subordinates; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts; work independently and within a team environment; problem solve; communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, and accomplish objectives in a timely manner. The successful candidate will have the skill in the use of various office and software applications related to work such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. A Driver?s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.The closing date for this competition has been extended until it is filled.
