(Katzie) First Nation who were stewards of this land since time immemorial.Environmental Planner(Planning & Development)(CUPE Full-time, Regular) The City of Pitt Meadows is hiring an Environmental Planner to provide professional level expertise to a variety of environmental plans and programs. Reporting to the Manager of Agriculture and Environment, this position provides technical and professional level support by evaluating development plans, implementing environmental initiatives, preparing policy reports, processing applications, attending site inspections, and conducting relevant environmental research. They will also work closely with staff, Katzie First Nations, internal clients, and consultants on specific projects, with the goal of improving the City?s environmental programs to ensure a resilient, healthy, and livable community for our residents. They will also present to Council and senior staff, and are skilled in delivering sensitive topics in an effective manner. If you are passionate about environmental management, climate change mitigation, and ecological protection - then this might be the opportunity for you! Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. However, participation in our Earned Day Off program and Remote Work Arrangement may be considered. Qualifications:University graduation in an appropriate discipline plus a post graduate degree in resource management, environmental planning, environmental science or a discipline related to the work supplemented by some experience in environmental planning, preferably in a municipal environment, with some project management experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A relevant professional designation is considered an asset. Considerable knowledge of relevant rules, regulations, policies, bylaw objectives and legislation. Sound knowledge of analytical and research techniques, as well as current trends in environmental protection, to develop and implement strategies, programs and policy options. Ability to assess environmental impact of development in the Municipality, ensuring conformance with applicable environmental legislation and regulations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, professionals, internal and external customers, and authorities. Preference may be given to candidates with experience or knowledge of agricultural practices. Effective communication and public speaking skills. Driver?s Licence for the Province of British Columbia.
