Applications are invited for the position of: <p>Teacher at Parkland Composite High School <p>Position : Full-Time Temporary Language Arts and Social Studies<p>Location : Parkland Composite High School - Edson, AB<p>https://parklandcomposite.gypsd.ca/<p>Start Date : Duties to commence Decemeber 16, 2024 until June 27, 2025 or upon return of incumbent whichever happens sooner. <p>Hours of Work : 1.0 FTE Monday-Friday<p> The competition will remain open until November 5, 2024 at noon. <p>Parkland Composite High School is located in Edson, Alberta which resides in the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division. A high school providing excellent education to approximately 600 students in grades 9-12.<p>Role and Responsibilities The successful candidate will be a collaborative person with proficiency in the use of educational technology and have an understanding of assessment for learning. The responsibilities include: Providing instruction to promote high quality student-centered learning.<p> Designing and preparing lessons based on curriculum and following a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing students, including lectures, demonstrations and discussions.<p> Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize educational opportunities for all students.<p> Reviewing and evaluating each student's performance, knowledge and skills and meeting all reporting and assessment deadlines.<p> Adhering to provincial legislation, board policy and division administrative procedures.<p> Developing constructive relationships with parents.Requirements <p>The successful candidate will: Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for one.<p> Have experience in following the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum.<p> Hold a Bachelors degree of Education.<p> Additional experience teaching Social Studies will be considered an asset.Benefits of GYPSD <p>The Division is committed to strong professional development and each teacher and principal has the opportunity to apply for up to $2,500 per year to support professional learning.<p>The Division also provides $725 per year for teachers to allocate within a Health and Wellness Spending Account.<p>Available Leaves: Personal leave of absence, 4 days per school year May accumulate up to 11 total personal leave days, see the Local ATA Collective Agreement for further details. <p> Sick leave, up to 90 days leave<p> Family Medical Leave, up to 3 days per school year<p> Bereavement/Critical Care Leave<p> Deferred Salary Leave PlanNorthern Student Teacher Bursary: <p>GYPSD is a participating School Division within the Northern Student Teacher Bursary.<p>A detailed description of the Role of the Teacher is available in Administrative Procedure 420 on the GYPSD Website.<p>Applicants are asked to include the following in their applications: <p> Cover Letter <p> Resume <p> Transcripts <p> Evaluations <p> Contact information for a minimum of three employment-related references Note: We thank all applicants for their interest but advise that only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.<p>In accordance with Board Policy, the successful applicant will be required to provide the following: a Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check<p> a Child Intervention Record Check
