*BACKGROUND*
Pacific Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine is a medical office located near Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver. Our team-based approach provides comprehensive, multi-disciplinary, and integrated musculoskeletal care to the Coastal Health Region. The medical team includes 10 orthopaedic surgeons and 2 sports medicine specialists. This team is supported by an office manager and 10 full-time administrative staff (medical office assistants). Our office is mostly paperless and the staff use an EMR (electronic medical record system) with a shared patient database.
*THE JOB*
We are looking for a full-time MOA (medical office assistant) whose primary role will be supporting the practice of an orthopaedic surgeon. Training will be provided. The MOA is required to work in-person, but some remote working from home will also be accommodated (up to 2 days per week). Along with the other staff, the MOA will share in duties related to the day-to-day running of the group office and business.
*SCOPE OF WORK AND KEY DUTIES*
* reception and communication - greeting patients on arrival, answering phone calls, voicemail and email inquiries
* triaging incoming referrals
* scheduling patient appointments and coordinating tests / investigations
* coordinating patient surgeries and managing surgical bookings
* running office clinics - escorting patients into rooms and changing over rooms between assessments
* EMR (electronic medical record) - filing and maintaining records, and using the EMR for all workflow in the office
* sales of medical products
* billing, invoicing, payment and collections for MSP and privately-insured services
*SKILLS & COMPETENCIES*
* previous MOA experience is an asset
* experience with electronic medical records systems
* proficient with computers
* strong interpersonal skills
* effective written and verbal communication in English
* organization and multi-tasking in a busy environment
* understanding patient information privacy, and dealing with confidential or sensitive medical information
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
