For more information about our school district, visit https://www.vsb.bc.ca/. <p>THE OPPORTUNITY: YOUTH & FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER - COMMUNITY SCHOOL TEAM/ENHANCED SERVICES (SCHOOL & STUDENT SUPPORT B) <p>The Community School Team (CST)/Enhanced Services SSB Team supports students with social-emotional and behavioural interventions, school and community connectedness, regular attendance, and successful transitions - all in support of the long-term goal of increasing life choices. Work is done with small groups, classrooms, and one to one with students who face barriers to participation.<p>This position primarily supports Elementary School students from Kindergarten to Grade 7. In this position, you will: Deliver a variety of evidence-based strategies/interventions to enhance the students social, emotional and behavioural functioning in consultation with other members of the students support team<p> Support grade to grade transitions, in particular, grade 7 to 8 transition<p> Support and encourage regular student attendance at school<p> Liaise with school-based professionals and involved community agencies <p> Plan and implement relevant prevention programs in conjunction with teachers and school staff<p> Support the students in developing greater self-awareness, self-regulation and self-advocacy<p> Liaise with families/caregivers to engage in school and community based Out of School Time activities to enhance student success<p> Maintain files and records regarding the services provided to students including information required for bi-annual reporting<p> Provide School & Student Support to schools<p> Perform other work within the job band as assigned<p>Itinerant Assignment: <p> A School & Student Support worker is hired to work throughout the Vancouver School District and not for a particular school or a restricted set of duties. Although in posted vacancies specific reference may be made to a school and to the duties associated with that assignment, Employee Services may transfer staff within the system in certain circumstances as deemed appropriate.QUALIFICATIONS Completion of grade 12 plus 2 years of full time equivalent post-secondary education and/or a diploma in any of the following areas: Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Immigration/Migration studies, Ethnic/Cultural/Indigenous studies, Hum
