*Reports to: Health and Wellness Manager*
_*Qualifications:*_
1. Experience working with seniors and individuals with disabilities.
2. Good physical and mental health and free from communicable disease.
3. Certified in CPR and First Aid recommended.
4. Good written and verbal communication skills.
5. Willingness to update and keep current their knowledge of changing regulations, practices and procedures.
6. Previous work experience in providing laundry, food or personal care services.
7. Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent.
8. Post secondary education in related care fields [e.g. Personal Support Worker (PSW), Health Care Aide (HCA) or Developmental Services Worker (DSW) certification] is preferred.
_*Physical Demands:*_
* Standing for long periods of time.
* Walking short distances and up/down staircases.
* Able to complete all physical aspects of job requirements.
* Reading/seeing documentation both in paper format and on a computer screen.
* Hearing differences in phone ring tones and/or in fire system horns or alerts for emergency response purposes.
* Speaking/communicating to individuals with impairments and disabilities.
_*Job Description:*_
1. Conducts duties in accordance with Jake's House Community Residence policies and procedures, as well as, government regulations, laws and policies Experience working with seniors preferred.
2. Understands and follows all health and safety policies and procedures. Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, other staff members and residents. Promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations.
3. Maintains confidentiality of residents? personal information.
4. Assists and attends to residents? special needs as required
5. Provides food preparation, dining room service, busing and dishwashing services in accordance with established work routines
6. Provides personal laundry services for residents in accordance with established work routines.
7. Maintains work and storage areas in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
8. Operates and cleans equipment, furniture and cleans and maintains all resident areas as per
work routines.
9. Assist with monthly blood pressures and weights as assigned.
10. Provide emergency first aid/nursing care until appropriate medical care is available.
11. Assist with resident admissions and discharges when required.
12. Assist with any other duties as directed by the Director of Care.
13. Other duties as assigned
*Education:*
· Education on: PASD, injury prevention, fire safety, emergency evacuation and plan and any further education deemed necessary by management.
· On hire and annually: ORCA training, RHRA Bill of Rights, Jake House Community Residences Abuse and Neglect Policy, Whistle Blowing Policy, Injury Prevention, Fire Prevention and Safety, Evacuation/Emergency Plan, Health and Safety, Confidentiality Policy, Code of Ethics.
