*NATURE AND SCOPE*
The Thorpe Recovery Centre seeks an experienced Accounting Technician to support our financial operations part-time, working 24 hours per week over three days. This role focuses on essential bookkeeping duties such as accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), bank deposits, charitable donations, and grant reporting. Proficiency in payroll preparation is also required, as you may occasionally assist with bi-weekly payroll processing. Strong time management skills and keen attention to detail are critical to success in this role.
*RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES*
· Reconciliation of ATM, petty cash and medication.
· Issues client receipts as required.
· Process and enter employee expense claims.
· Respond to client inquiries related to payments.
· Prepare and record invoices to funders and clients for bed sales and Intensive/Family program attendance.
· Prepares and facilitates bank deposits.
· Securely process and review all account payable transactions.
· Acts as a first point of contact with all vendors; effectively communicate and liaise with vendors and other departments to resolve all AP inquiries and discrepancies.
· Coordinates weekly EFT?s and other electronic payments.
· Prepares cheque runs.
· Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
· Ensure accurate GL entry coding, including cost allocations.
· Enter and reconcile credit card transactions
· File all processed invoices systematically.
· Provide back up support to Payroll and Reception, as needed.
· Assist the Director of Finance with month-end and year-end processes, T4 preparation, and WCB reporting as requested.
*QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS*
· Post secondary degree or diploma in accounting, business administration or commerce.
· Three to five years payroll and bookkeeping experience.
· HR experience would be considered an asset.
· Certification with the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) would be considered an asset.
· Knowledge of federal and provincial payroll regulations and requirements.
· Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now payroll systems would be considered an asset.
· Experience in QuickBooks is a requirement.
· Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in preparing and entering financial and payroll
· related information.
· Ability to work well under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality in an ethical and professional manner.
· Bookkeeping skills, analytical and problem-solving skills
