Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Plumbing technology/plumber. Heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration maintenance technology/technician. Work setting: Various locations. Residential. Tasks: Install domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Repair domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems. Instruct apprentices. Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings. Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges. Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing. Estimate costs and materials. Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Plumber Trade Certification. Natural Gas License. Plumber Red Seal Certificate. Gas Fitter Red Seal Certificate. Type of service and repair: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Sales experience: Natural gas. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Vehicle supplied by employer. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Hand-eye co-ordination. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Personal suitability: Accurate. Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Excellent written communication. Judgement. Experience: 5 years or more.
