*JOB TITLE: *Therapy Assistant
Spirit of the Children Society provides an array of specialized programs, rehabilitation services, and outpatient occupational therapy, speech and language services to children and youth with physical, communication, and developmental needs. Programs and services ? which are delivered, in the community, at schools, and in-home ? include: assessment, autism support; complex care program; occupational therapy; speech-language pathology; and family engagement. SOTCS actively supports to better serve caregivers and the developmental needs of their children. *Speech Language/ Occupational Therapy Assistant*
Under the general direction of an Early Years Program Manager and supervision of the Speech-Language Pathologist and Occupation Therapist, the primary role of the Therapy Assistant is to support therapy plans, designed by the OT and/or SLP, to target goals for clients in various programs at SOTCS.
*Responsibilities*
· The Therapy Assistant will support with SOTCS programs as needed, with a focus of aiding SLP and OT in running groups:
· \*\*\*Therapy Assistant must be available to work Saturdays (this program runs for three 8-week sessions a year); typically, these Saturday shifts are in the morning and are approximately 4 hours long, but the Therapy Assistant also has an option of working Tuesday- Saturday 7-hour shifts when working Saturday program
· This Hase program is for Indigenous families with children aged 0-6. SLP, OT, Aboriginal supported child development and infant development consultants, FASD worker and an Elder help facilitate this program. Families receive support in areas of play, learning communication, social emotional and functional concerns at home and/or daycare/school.
· The Therapy Assistant assists in providing departmental support; documentation related to client care; maintain communication with all other staff members; other programming support as needed; attending and supporting Cultural events organized by SOTCS, as well as maintaining a safe work environment and perform other related duties, as assigned.
*Qualifications*
· Knowledge of child development and generally accepted principles and practices; specialized knowledge of pediatric disabilities would be an asset.
· Experience with children, especially aged 0-6.
· Well-developed communication skills .
· Ability to collaborate with other team members.
· Computer literacy - knowledge and ability to use software such as Boardmaker to create visual supports such as visual schedules and social stories an asset.
· Ability to manage time effectively and set priorities.
· Ability to follow direction and to work in an independent manner.
· Valid driver?s licence and reliable vehicle, or access to reliable/appropriate transportation.

Pay: $48,000.00-$49,000.00 per year
