Stein Valley Nlaka'pamux School <p>Stein Valley Nlakapamux School in Lytton, BC, is currently looking for a full-time Primary Teacher who<p>will teach a multi grade classroom. All classrooms are a maximum of 18 students with a Student Support<p>Worker/Education Assistant.<p>Stein Valley Nlakapamux School (SVNS) is a well-established and growing Independent School centrally<p>located in the Fraser Canyon (3 hours from Vancouver and Kelowna, 2 hours from Kamloops). SVNS<p>offers K4 to Grade 12 along with an Adult Diploma Program. We are an innovative school that weaves<p>Nlakapamux culture and language with 21st century learning.<p><p>A unique element at SVNS is that we have a strong focus on language and culture. Students are<p>instructed in Nlha.kapamuhhchEEN from K4 all the way through grade 12 and are taken on many<p>cultural trips throughout the year as we focus on land-based learning. Students attend hunting and<p>fishing camps, harvest local medicinal plants, and are given the history of sacred spots throughout the<p>territory. They are also provided with regular NlhakapamuhhchEEn language classes that combine<p>outdoor and indoor education.<p>SVNS continuously strives to think outside of the box. We provide our students with the most<p>interesting and genuine learning experiences possible. We have an amazing agriculture project, skate<p>park, and a wide range of extra-curricular programs such as clubs and sport teams. <p>SVNS provides its employees with a moving loan subsidy, full group health (including pension and life)<p>and dental benefits, subsidized rental housing and the teaching pay scale follows the local public school<p>wage grid. Our unique school year starts at the end of July with four semesters that are based on the<p>seasons. Each semester is nine or ten weeks with a 2 or 3 week break in between. Our team of teachers,<p>support staff, board, and community members focus on student success by providing a meaningful,<p>quality educational program built around the Nlakapamux language and culture.<p>Employment Qualifications:<p>- BC Teacher Certification <p>- Teaching Experience minimum of 1 year, preferably in a First Nations School <p>- In-depth knowledge of the new BC Ed curriculum, and other educational programs <p> - Innovative, creative, collaborative and flexible <p>- Motivational and behavioural techniques <p>- Strong organizational and planning skills to accommodate multi-grades and diverse needs <p>- Experience working with First Nation children <p>- Clear Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable populations <p>How to Join Our Innovated and Dedicated Team: <p>Send a completed application that includes: <p> - Cover Letter, Resume, B.C.
