Job Posting <p>APSSP - Elementary Chaplain <p>The Waterloo Catholic District School Board serves over 38,000 learners and provides services to students in 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12 and adult learners) across the Waterloo Region. <p>The Board conducts intentional recruitment and selection as it seeks to achieve a state of greater equity for employees and students and to diversify its workforce. <p>All qualified applicants are welcome and encouraged to apply and applicants may choose to indicate if they are from a group who has experienced racial or social discrimination. Aggregate data will be stored anonymously to support improvements to the Board's hiring processes. <p>General Description of Duties: <p>This position involves ministering to elementary students in Grades JK-8, with special emphasis on facilitating retreats. All elementary schools involve their Grade 8 (and sometimes Grade 7) students in a 3-day retreat experience with schools assuming responsibility for the evening and overnight supervision. Chaplains will visit classes, preside at liturgies and provide crisis response. Chaplains will collaborate with school level staff, other chaplains, parish personnel, system level staff, and parents. The successful candidate will bring pastoral, ethical, doctrinal, liturgical, and theological leadership to the district community. <p>Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in religious studies, theology, divinity, liturgy, or youth ministry <p> A certificate in pastoral or youth ministry (or equivalent background). <p> Evidence of experience working with youth and collaborating with other adults. <p> Demonstrated organizational, communication and facilitation skills. <p> Willing to participate in school-wide meetings, events, conferences, committees, and teams including Parent Advisory Council, Program Council, GSA group, Catholic Education Week, weekly school masses and school liturgies. <p> Certification in first aid or CPR or commitment to obtain certificate. <p> Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to use own vehicle. <p> Ability to liaise with parish priests. Salary Range: $65,393.00 $ $76,215 .00 per year based on 42 weeks per year in accordance with the provisions of the APSSP Collective Agreement. <p>Hours of Work : Permenant, full time: 35 hours per week / 42 weeks per year <p>Qualified applicants are invited to submit a resume and covering letter.
