The Horizon School Division is looking for Substitute Teachers dedicated to providing a quality instruction and education to students in the absence of the regular teacher. Substitute teachers play an important role serving our 20 schools and 19 colony schools.<p>Horizon School Division is committed to engaging and empowering all learners and prioritizes strong instruction, response to intervention, and wellness.<p> Substitute Teacher Responsibilities: <p><p> maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for the students<p> promote continued learning<p> follow lesson plans created by the teacher<p> if necessary, create his/her own lesson plans in accordance with the Alberta Education Programs of Study and the absent teacher?s unit plans and/or long range plans.<p> ensure that the classroom is running smoothly<p> clear, concise communication with the absent teacher<p> adhere to the same roles and responsibilities as any other classroom teacher as defined by the Education Act and the Teaching Profession Act.<p><p> <p>Additional responsibilities may include: <p><p> preparing educational materials<p> marking assignments or classwork<p> assigning classwork and homework<p> recess or lunch supervision duties<p><p><p>Qualifications/Requirements: <p><p> Valid Alberta Teaching certification (required)<p> Clear Criminal Records Check, to include the Vulnerable Sector Check<p> Child Intervention Check completed by Child and Family Services<p><p>Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: <p><p> Strong instruction and classroom management skills<p> Solid communication and organizational skills<p> Personal integrity and trustworthiness<p> Ability to establish trust and rapport with students<p> Competency working with computers and other technologies to support student learning<p> Respect and value all individuals with sensitivity to diversity<p><p>Why Join Team Horizon? <p><p> A division-wide focus on individual, school and division wide health and wellbeing.<p> Professional, caring work environments that encourage and support the growth and development of our staff.<p> Knowledgeable, genuine, and approachable teammates who support one another to succeed<p> Opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of children and youth<p> Competitive compensation and retirement package including paid time off and flexible, employer paid, health benefits (for eligible employees)<p> Work schedules built upon school calendar - respectful of family time and work/life balance<p> Opportunities for carpooling to reduce transportation costs<p><p>Horizon is an equal opportunity employer and values inclusion and respects diversity.
