*Position Title*: *Temporary *Program Coordinator 2 - Housing
*Hours of work:* Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, 35 hours a week.
*End of term:* Until return of the incumbent.
*This position requires UNION MEMBERSHIP *
The Transition House Program provides safe, confidential and supportive temporary housing for women ? alone or with children. Women and their children can stay for up to 30 days with food and basic necessities provided. SARA's transition houses are staffed by professional social services workers who provide support, advocacy, and referrals to local resources.
The Program Coordinator for Transition Housing plans, develops, implements, oversees the day-to-day operation of the program and supervises program staff.
*Reports to:* Manager of Housing
*This is a temporary position until the return of the incumbent. *
*Duties and Responsibilities: *
? Connecting clients in communities across the Fraser Valley and shelter to medical support, detox and recovery programs, access to the low barrier and market housing, food services, and employment opportunities.
? Informs all Peers, workers, and clients about an overdose increase alert and let them know what to look for and how to respond.
? Planning for training and programing.
? Training for peers on harm reduction specific training
? Identify adequate peer training programs for peer volunteers. Provide peer volunteers support with navigating training.
? Planning program such as creating a peer mentorship program (peers teaching peers), planning monthly peer volunteer meetings
? Implementing schedules, routines, trainings, providing updated training opportunities for volunteer peers
? Collects and logs all Harm Reduction, OPS, and HIV stats.
? Hosts Peer empowerment/training meetings monthly to discuss trends in the community and how SARA can better services.
? Naloxone training monthly at the Alano Club in Chilliwack.
? Assists with the monthly schedule for OPS peers, Harm Reduction, including HIV.
? Supports and interacts with clients through providing transportation, information, harm reduction supplies, and resources
? Provides outreach community education on harm reduction philosophies and working within a harm reduction framework through one-on-one interaction and education
? Assist clients in obtaining resources for a healthier living, e.g., condoms, personal care items, etc.
? Inform clients of safer drug use practices
? Peer education on using a harm reduction model, e.g., safer sex, overdose prevention, risk behaviors with drug use, etc.
? Dispenses harm reduction supplies and performs needle (sharps) recovery in Abbotsford, Mission, and Chilliwack · Records and documents statistical data and submits within time sensitive deadlines
? Coordinates SARA?s harm reduction inventory, orders, stocks, and documents needle distribution
? Attends meetings on behalf of SARA and shares information
? Coordinates SARA?s Naloxone inventory for both the Take Home Naloxone Program and the Facility Overdose Response Box
? Oversees and coordinates Peer Support in the deliverables of the program and ensures their hours are being submitted
? Facilitate honorarium payments and Peer agreements for OPS peer team.
? Transports clients and Peer Support team as needed to fulfill program activities
? Shares information with Program Manager on themes/trends being experienced in the community skills and knowledge:
? Knowledge of the Take Home Naloxone Program and Facility Overdose Response box ? Up-to-date knowledge on HIV/HEPC
? Knowledge of programs and services in the contracted communities
*Qualifications: *
_Experience _
? Minimum 2 years? experience working with high risk, multi-barrier female populations.
_Education _
? Diploma in a related human/ social service field and/ or relevant experience
Training
? Standard First Aid Certificate
? Criminal Record Check for Vulnerable Populations
? Valid Class 5 Driver?s Licence and cl
