*Job Summary*
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the organization's goals. This role requires strong leadership abilities and expertise in budgeting, risk management, and corporate finance.
*Duties*
* to ensure that the financial management systems, policies, procedures, directions and internal controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively;
* to actively monitor compliance with O?Chiese First Nation Financial Management Policy and other applicable laws, standards, policies, procedures and directions of the O?Chiese First Nation;
* to administer and maintain accounts of the O?Chiese First Nation
* to assist in the preparation and drafting of the annual budgets and any draft amendments to the annual budget for O?Chiese First Nation;
* to prepare the monthly financial information, the quarterly financial statements and the draft annual audited financial statements for O?Chiese First Nation;
* to prepare the financial components of reports to the Chief and Council;
* to administer and supervise the maintenance of all records of all receipts and expenditures of each O?Chiese First Nation;
* to identify, assess, monitor and report on financial reporting risks and fraud risks of O?Chiese First Nation;
* to monitor and report on the effectiveness of mitigating controls for the risks referred to in paragraph (h) taking into consideration the costs of implementing those controls;
* to review and report to the Chief and Council of O?Chiese First Nation risk management policies and control and information systems and, where appropriate, recommend improvements to the Chief and Council;
* to prepare or provide any documentation and financial information required by Chief and Council to discharge its responsibilities;
* to carry out any other activities specified by the Band Administrator that are not inconsistent with the Finance Manager?s duties under this Agreement;
* Supervise any staff or contractors respecting the financial management of the O?Chiese First Nation;
* Participates in executive meetings as required;
* Maintain and keep secure all documents and equipment provided by Employer;
* Mentor O?Chiese First Nation individuals assigned to any financial management work;
* Perform other duties as the position may require and perform additional assignments and responsibilities as assumed or requested by the Band Administrator.
*Requirements*
* Accounting Degree or diploma with five (5) or more years working in a senior finance management position;
* Proven experience in financial management roles with a strong understanding of budgeting, risk management, and finance principles.
* Proficient in financial services software and tools; advanced Excel skills are essential.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team effectively.
* Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail; ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
* Preferably 5 years working experience with Accpac Accounting
* Ideally would prefer a candidate with or pursuing an CAFM Designate
* Ideally and would prefer a candidate who can understand or speak a First Nations Language ? preferably Saulteaux and or Cree.
