*Position Summary*
The Financial Accountant will work closely with the Executive Director to manage and oversee all financial functions of the Society. This includes ensuring the accurate preparation of financial statements, compliance with funder and regulatory requirements, managing cash flow, and supporting the preparation of budgets and forecasts. The Financial Accountant will also provide support to ensure smooth operations in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other duties as assigned.
*Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities*
Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial, risk management, and accounting policies and procedures.
Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting, including managing cash flow and preparing forecasts.
Oversee the accounting functions, including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, capital assets, payroll, and purchasing.
Ensure all statutory CRA requirements of the organization are met.
Ensure compliance with reporting requirements for BC Housing, Community Living British Columbia (CLBC), and other funders.
Collaborate with the Executive Director and Managers to prepare internal budgets, periodic forecasts, and funder budgets.
Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Ensure the organization has adequate insurance coverage and financial safeguards.
