Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: General office. Office building. Tasks: Read blueprints to determine dimensions of structure or system and material requirements. Assist in developing engineering specifications and drawings. Participate in field surveys, inspections or technical investigations. Prepare construction specifications, costs and material estimates. Prepare engineering designs and drawings. Prepare project schedules. Supervise or conduct field surveys, inspections, technical investigations and testing of construction materials. Provide consultation services to government and other organizations. Supervision: 5-10 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Certification by a provincial or territorial association. Civil engineering technology (CVT). National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) accreditation. Computer and technology knowledge: CAE - computer-aided engineering. MicroStation. Plant Design Management System (PDMS). Tekla. Geographic Information System (GIS). Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. 3D graphic software. MS Access. MS Outlook. MS Project. Autodesk REVIT. Area of work experience: Project coordination. Civil engineering experience: Buildings and structures. Area of specialization: Structural engineering. Security and safety: Criminal record check.
