With one of the top performing economies, a growing tourism industry and an enviable portfolio of recreational and cultural venues, this is the place where you want to be.Responsible for:Responsible for the development, implementation, managing and maintaining of the comprehensive emergency management plan, policies and procedures for the City of Vaughan including developing emergency preparedness goals and objectives, and ensuring said goals and objectives are achieved, developing and implementing regular testing of all plan components, preparation of reports and budgets, developing and delivering training/presentations and ensuring delivery of same to staff, members of the public and volunteers, managing and coordinating the recovery aspect of the plan after an emergency, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial legislation, and liaising with Federal, Provincial and Municipal agencies as required.Qualifications and experience: University Degree in Disaster and Emergency Management or suitable equivalent, and further specialized training in emergency planning and preparedness. Minimum seven (7) years management experience, preferably in a municipal environment. Certifications/Licensures: Emergency Management (EM 200, EM 300) Exercise Program Introduction (EM125) or equivalency from an accredited organization Exercise Program Management (EM 225) or equivalency from an accredited organization Incident Management System 100 (IMS 100) or equivalency from an accredited organization Incident Management System 200 (IMS 200) or equivalency from an accredited organization Extensive working knowledge of related applicable legislation, practices and principles of emergency planning. Sound knowledge of emergency management principles and theory, including hazard identification and risk assessment, emergency management systems, site management, emergency operations centres, emergency communications and plan development methodologies. Excellent strong leadership, team building, project management, interpersonal, communication, presentation, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Valid Ontario Class G driver?s license in good standing. Knowledge of, or demonstrated ability in, the City?s core competencies and relevant functional competencies. Successful candidate will be required to submit a clear Vulnerable Sector Check from an accredited Police Service, prior to commencing employment. Masters degree in Disaster and Emergency Management, Public Safety, Public Administration is preferred. Associate Business Continuity Professional Designation is preferred. Accredited Instructor with Emergency Management Ontario is an asset. CSA Z1600 Standard, NFPA 1600 or ISO TC22301 training is an asset. Standard office environment. Available to be on call 24/7. Requires some evening and weekend work.Works closely with the public, staff from all departments, people leaders, Council and external stakeholders.
