An exciting job opportunity is available! Deputy Sheriffs are responsible for the safe and timely transportation of persons to and from court locations across the province (e.g., correctional centers, RCMP detachments, municipal police agencies, etc.). They are also responsible for ensuring documents are accurate for persons being released and/or held in custody and information is kept confidential at all times. As Peace Officers, Deputy Sheriffs operate under the Criminal Code of Canada, the Court Officials Act, 2012, and the Court Security Act, 2007. Additionally, Deputy Sheriffs as Special Constables have authority under The Police Act 1990. They are armed with force option tools and may be required to use necessary force while performing their duties to protect people from harm.
