Job details
The role of the Student/Licensed Optician is to assist patients in the selection of frame and lens products. Their role is to understand our product offerings in detail in order to make recommendations to the patient that will help them achieve their best possible vision. Opticians are also responsible for measurements related to spectacles and ensuring all product is priced correctly.
*Duties include (but are not limited to) the following:*
* Develop an in-depth understanding of our spectacle frame and lens offerings
* Dispense eyewear to patients (selecting appropriate frames and lenses, taking measurements)
* Be able to make repairs to spectacle frames and lenses as needed
* Develop an in-depth understanding of our ordering process
* Learn how to work with different labs to ensure best value and quality for our patients and business
* Keep track of orders to ensure all orders are completed, received and delivered to patient in a timely manner
* Ensure the frame and lens products received from our vendors is without defect and of good quality
* Ensure we are invoiced correctly from our vendors for frame and lab services and that credits are accounted for
* Troubleshooting when patients are unable to adapt to their glasses or have other issues with their glasses and/or vision
* Assist in frame purchases from our vendors
* Maintaining smooth day to day operations within the practice
* Assist with staff training and staff meetings
* Assist in patient care, patient flow and patient satisfaction
* Ensure that patients are happy with our goods and services.
* Help develop and implement new office programs, processes and policies to grow our dispensing
* Maintain and clean edging equipment for optimal performance
* Keeping up to date with new products in the ophthalmic industry including frames, lenses, contact lenses, equipment, edging and finishing, repairs and adjustments, etc.

*Requirement:*
* Currently enrolled in Opticianry program
* Optical dispensing experience
* Certification: registered optician with the College of Opticians of Ontario
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.20-$23.00 per hour
