*Job Summary:*
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join our team, working closely with all levels of management and employees to ensure the health and safety of our teams. In this role, the Health and Safety Advisor will be a resource to provide support, advice and assistance on Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) across all operations.
This role reports directly to the Operations Manager for Keys Welding Service, but additionally will provide support to our STC Industrial Contracting field services division, and corporate office.
*Duties & Responsibilities:*
*Health & Safety Leadership*
* Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, programs, and procedures in compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations.
* Act as the primary point of contact for health and safety matters across the shop and field services operations.
* Foster a culture of safety through proactive communication, training, and engagement with all employees.
*Risk Assessment & Incident Management*
* Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and workplace inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
* Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries; prepare detailed reports with root cause analyses and corrective action plans.
* Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure timely implementation.
*Regulatory Compliance*
* Stay up to date with health and safety regulations and industry best practices, ensuring the company?s compliance with applicable standards.
* Prepare and submit regulatory reports and maintain required documentation.
* Liaise with regulatory authorities, as necessary, for inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
*Training & Communication*
* Develop and deliver health and safety training programs, including new hire orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing skill-based training.
* Maintain accurate records of training, certifications, and employee competencies.
* Communicate HSE performance metrics and initiatives to leadership and employees.
*Continuous Improvement*
* Lead safety improvement initiatives and participate in the development of new processes to enhance operational safety.
* Analyze safety performance data and trends to identify areas for improvement.
* Collaborate with teams to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution.
*General Duties*
* Administer Occupational Health Committee (OHC) meetings and documentation.
* Oversee and schedule fleet maintenance to ensure operational safety.
* Oversee fleet management including GPS systems, insurance and registration compliance.
* Perform PPE fit tests and ensure proper usage compliance.
* Monitor and maintain online safety programs and systems. (ISNetworld, etc.)
* Evaluate subcontractor safety programs and validate personnel certifications.
* Complete Certificate of Recognition (COR) audits.
* Review and complete HSE documents as required by clients. (Prequalification, etc.)
* Maintain and inspect safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, testing kits, eyewash stations, first aid kits, AEDs, etc.
* Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
*Required Education and Experience:*
* National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation
* Occupational Health and Safety Certificate or equivalent.?
* Experience with disability management, accident investigation, workplace inspection and job hazard analysis is preferred.?
* Experience in manufacturing and/or construction safety is an asset
*Skills & Competencies*
* Strong understanding of fabrication and field service operations, including associated risks and hazards.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and training skills.
