The Warehouse Manager is responsible for managing the operation on a daily basis and the management of personnel and physical resources to achieve the team and facility key performance objectives, while maintaining contractual service level and adhering to company Standard Operating Procedures and Policies. The individual will manage and motivate the team by giving direction and leadership, monitoring performance to ensure the facility achieves high performance levels for the purpose of ensuring the provision of an effective and efficient quality service to our customer.
Job Duties
* Direct programs to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation of the assigned facility
* Plan and schedule all distribution services including receiving, storing, shipping, handling returned/damaged goods, maintenance, to ensure customer requirements are met in an efficient manner
* Ensure warehouse management system?s procedures are adhered to and the WMS is functioning optimally
* Ensure current and accurate inventory management
* Plan long range labour requirements based on sales forecasts and input from direct reports
* Strive for continuous improvements in all facets of warehouse operations in support of Operational Excellence initiatives
* Monitor the space layout plan to ensure it continues to meet company standards
* Work with the team to optimize warehouse space and use Red Prairie system effectively
* Comply with all ESA and OHSA regulations to ensure the safety of all personnel, equipment and property
* Maintain and enforce the standard practices related to food safety and food defense policies along with GMP?s and GHP standards
* Participate in training and comply with the requirements of: SQF Code, Food Safety and Quality Policy Statement, HACCP Prerequisite Programs, Food Safety Finished Product Handling, Good Manufacturing Practices / Good Distribution Practices, Reporting Food Safety Incidents and related food safety and quality training as well ensuring compliance for direct/indirect reports
* Conduct periodic spot-checks of inventory levels, supplies, and equipment
* Ensure all Material Handling Equipment is in good working order and all preventive maintenance is being done
* Ensure cleanliness of building and scheduled maintenance is performed in a timely manner
* Support all direct reports, ensuring they have adequate training, assisting with issues and serving as a point of escalation
* Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of reports regarding warehouse operations
* Prepare, maintain, and communicate all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and ensure they are adhered to
* Ensure exceptional relationships with cross functional teams
* Provide leadership and direction through coaching, mentoring and developing direct reports; establish annual performance objectives, conduct performance assessments and identify opportunities for skill development
* Lead a high performance culture, mentoring and coaching, succession planning and developing talent.
* Collaborate with HR to ensure staff levels are correct, interview and approve new hires
* Performs other duties as required
Education/Qualifications
* College diploma or University degree in related a field
* 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
Key Competencies
* Direct working knowledge of operations, Red Prairie, warehouse management, and transportation management
* Direct knowledge of WHMIS, ESA and OHSA legislation
* Experience with radio frequency systems
* Strong knowledge of MS Office products; Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
* Strong knowledge of warehouse documentation, with good writing skills
* Ability to interpret and act upon complex instructions
* Solid project management skills
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
* Good business acumen
* Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization, its executive team and customers
* A proven track record of coaching, mentoring and developing direct reports and sub
