The Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission (SWDC) is a producer-led organization established by the Saskatchewan government in June 2013 to build a platform for growth in the province&rsquo;s wheat industry.&nbsp; Its mandate is to enhance wheat producers&rsquo; competitiveness and profitability through research, market development and communication activities.&nbsp;This position reports to the Research Program Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of research projects supported through the research program activities of the Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission (Sask Wheat). This is a 6- month contracted position (37.5 hours per week) with potential of becoming permanent; some travel may be required. This is not a remote position and requires in office presence.&nbsp;The successful candidate will possess:Master&rsquo;s in agriculture or related science program, with a strong background in plant breedingsignificant knowledge of crop-based agriculture in western Canadaknowledge of agricultural research institutions and crop research funding programsexperience managing projects, research principles and best practicesfamiliarity with legal contracts, budgets and financial statementsstrong verbal and written communication skillsself starter with strong planning and organizational skillsstrong analytical capabilitycommitment to accuracy and attention to detailstrong interpersonal skillsability to work independently and as part of a teamwillingness to demonstrate leadership and initiativeability to build strong internal and external stakeholder relationshipsadaptable to changing circumstances and prioritiestolerant, patient, and respectful of othersdedication to a strong and consistent work effortcompetent with computer office software programmingability to travel occasionally&nbsp;Key Responsibilities/Duties:Contribute to Sask Wheat&rsquo;s role as a leading funder in wheat researchInteract with researchers through the life cycle of projects including the development and submission of proposals and the subsequent project implementation, monitoring, and completion including reporting on research resultsCollaborate with funding agencies and partners to identify research priorities, review proposals and develop co-funding agreementsSupport Sask Wheat&rsquo;s financial and program reporting requirements, contract obligations, and communication and evaluation needs&nbsp;Education and Work Experience:The knowledge and skills required for the position will most likely have been obtained through a Master&rsquo;s degree in agriculture or science with a strong background in plant breeding and significant knowledge of crop-based agriculture in western Canada and at least four years&rsquo; work experience in agriculture research or research project management.
