The Finance & Information Technology Department is looking for a regular full-time Manager - Internal Audit to join their team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for leading and planning the internal audit program for the City. This will involve examining the efficiency and effectiveness of programs, advising City Departments on policies, procedures, and internal control issues, investigating public complaints, and undertaking special projects. You will undertake audit/review fieldwork; prepare and review audit findings, make recommendations and follow-up on implementation. Although there are currently no direct support staff, you will manage contracted service providers, including managing the procurement of contracted audit services and related contract management. You will have a Bachelor?s degree in Commerce with an Accounting/Finance focus, together with a professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA or equivalent), with a minimum of 5 years of experience in related positions in complex organisations, and preferably with two years of experience in a management position. A Certified Internal Auditor designation would be an advantage. Strong leadership and communication (written and verbal) skills, together with an excellent and demonstrated ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with various internal and external contacts, are important parts of this role. The nature of the work will involve confidential and sensitive issues and/or information, and prior experience operating effectively with this kind of information is important. An understanding of project management principles and tools will also help in this role. The salary range is $119,964 to $141,132 (2024 rates).
