Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Garage. Remote or mobile. Estimate parts and labour cost to perform vehicle maintenance and repairs . Perform scheduled maintenance service. Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements. Coach and instruct apprentices. Welding experience. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Tire, wheel and rim mechanic. Truck and Transport Mechanic Trade Certification. Truck-Trailer Repairer Trade Certification. Truck and Transport Mechanic Red Seal Endorsement. Truck-Trailer Repairer Red Seal Endorsement. Automotive Service Technician Red Seal Certificate. Area of specialization: Engine repair. 4-wheel drive. Electrical and electronic system. Diesel engines. Diagnostics. Brake system. Hydraulic system. Fuel and emission system. Engine repair and overhaul. Drive train components. Truck-trailer repair. Front end components. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system.
