We are currently seeking a Drafting Technician to join our design team in Ottawa, ON! Reporting to the department manager, you will apply your engineering knowledge to a wide range of projects through computer-aided design (CAD) and drawings. Established in 2004, ART Engineering Inc. [AEI] is a multi-disciplinary structural engineering consulting firm established in Ottawa, Ontario - with branch offices also located in Kingston and Milton, Ontario. AEI provides a wide variety of engineering services to its clients Canada wide, ranging from residential and commercial applications, to industrial and heavy civil construction projects. We are a dynamic group of young, energetic engineers in a fast-paced and constantly growing company. Responsibilities / Duties: * Draft structural drawings, engineering designs and related technical information; * Use computer aided design systems (CAD) to create drawings for building construction; * Research and obtain standards and codes required by client to develop plans; * Take direction from engineers and senior management to research drawings, catalogs and sketches to develop detailed dimensioned AutoCAD drawings; * Filling design drawings according to codes and specifications for the design; * Work directly in support of junior and senior engineers to cultivate specific designs required. Skills / Attributes: * Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university (or equivalent experience); * Must be very precise, creative and detail-oriented; * Knowledge and understanding of relevant local standards and codes is an asset (OBC, NBCC, MTO Manuals, etc.); * High or expert level of proficiency in AutoCAD; * High level of proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); * Excellent time management, organizational, communication skills; * Valid ?G? driver?s license and access to personal vehicle for travel to project sites; *Benefits of working at AEI:* * Competitive base salary dependent on specific level of experience * Paid vacation * Health benefits * Performance based bonuses * Flexible working location (hybrid) and hours (following probationary period) * RRSP matching program * Regular company social events and networking opportunities * Career growth planning * Opportunities to work on diverse project types and scopes * Small-mid size company allowing for more direct collaboration with all levels of staff and varying responsibilities Job Type: Full-time Pay: $50,000.00-$70,000.00 per year Schedule: * Monday to Friday Ability to commute/relocate: * Carp, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred) Experience: * AutoCAD: 3 years (required) * drafting: 2 years (required) Work Location: In person Expected start date: 2025-02-03
