Leo Street Youth and Family Services Society is a non-profit agency that contracts with the Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD) and Metis Family Services. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional services to a diverse population of children, youth and families. Our agency is committed to learn alongside the youth we care for and the teams that support these youth. We are *not *a religious affiliated agency.
We are hiring for strong Youth Workers to work at a *long-term homes* that are contracted through the Ministry for Children and Families. This is a specialized home for a youth approximately 6-14 years old.
This is a casual position offering $28.01 per hour plus 6% in lieu of benefits and paid vacation. We serve children and youth with behavioral challenges, mental health concerns, and substance misuse concerns.

\*A valid *class 5 driver's license is required*, in addition to a driver's abstract and a copy of the driver's license. Driving multiple youth is required for this position (agency provided vehicle).
Availability required includes weekends and holidays; evenings and overnights. The number of hours per week is based on availability provided and skill level, up to a maximum of 40/wk for a candidate with flexibility and skill.
We are looking for applicants with *experience with at-risk youth*, a focus on harm reduction, and a low barrier approach. Must complete training in Naloxone administration and be familiar with current practices and trends.
Must possess or be pursuing post-secondary education in the social science programs or equivalent experience working with children with challenging behaviors.
Responsibilities & Qualification:
Caring for the youth in a home setting; house cleaning, food preparation, close supervision and building a positive connection with the children and facilitating youth attendance to cultural events and activities.
Must have an ability to write detail progress notes, reports, and complete administrative responsibilities. Strong boundary setting skills and consistency are a significant part of this position.
Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written. A basic knowledge of computers, apps and some technology are required.
Successful candidates will have basic first aid including CPR, an ability to work with youth who have experienced trauma and display challenging behaviors. In addition, flexibility to relocate to alternative programs is beneficial.

Leo Street provides trainings in crisis intervention, drug awareness, and more.
Must be willing to get medical clearance and to agree to an MCFD clearance check and a criminal record check. This process could take 2-6 weeks before orientation may take place.
All candidates must be vaccinated for Covid-19.
Please note that our Specialized Homes are not wheelchair accessible.
