Role Description
We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic neurology team. We are looking for a PA who is passionate about patient care, thrives in a collaborative setting, and is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of patients.
Qualifications
* Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program.
* Valid licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant in Ontario (or eligibility to obtain licensure).
* Certification by the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC) or equivalent.
* Previous experience in neurology or related fields is an asset, but new graduates with a strong interest in neurology are encouraged to apply.
* Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Responsibilities
Clinical Care:
* Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history and physical examinations.
* Diagnose and manage common neurological conditions such as epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, migraines, and neuropathies, under the supervision of a neurologist.
* Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests, including EEGs, MRIs, CT scans, and lab results.
* Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising neurologists.
* Assist with performing minor neurological procedures and interventions (e.g., lumbar punctures, EMG/NCS tests, etc.) as needed.
* Provide patient education on their condition, treatment options, and prevention strategies.
* Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as required.
Patient Care Coordination:
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, etc.) to ensure coordinated patient care.
* Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding care plans, treatment options, and follow-up care.
* Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families dealing with neurological conditions.
* Ensure timely and accurate documentation in patient records.
Administrative and Operational Support:
* Assist with scheduling follow-up appointments, referrals to specialists, and managing patient records.
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
* Stay current with advancements in neurology and evidence-based practices to inform patient care and treatment strategies.
Role:
* Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a neurologist.
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
* Participate in ongoing learning and professional development to stay updated on the latest neurological treatments and technologies.
* Contribute to the clinic?s goals of patient satisfaction, quality care, and team collaboration.
