Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Hog and pig farming. Hog management. Dangerous. Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Odours. Work setting: Rural area. Staff accommodation available. Tasks: Boar semen collection. Handling animals. Monitoring animal health. Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration. Track and report on current feed inventory . Weaning. Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures. Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment. Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed. Formulate feeding program. Maintain livestock performance records. Maintain quality control and production records. Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs. Maintain work records and logs. Perform general farm duties. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Equipment and machinery experience: Automated manure handling or storage system. Feeding and watering system. Storage and silage system.
