*Job Summary: *The Payroll Administrator is responsible all payroll related functions. This includes processing payroll, union remittances, garnishments, preparing new employee orientation packages, maintaining employee data as well as handling payroll questions and other duties / projects as assigned. This is a great role with opportunity for growth!
*Responsibilities and Duties:*
* Process weekly payroll cycles for subcontractors and hourly employees.
* Verify timecards and ensure accurate recording of hours worked and piecework performed comparing the information to previous and other timecards paid.
* Coordinate payroll input union rules, where applicable.
* Analyze payroll data to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies, including working with foremen and other employees.
* Reconcile payroll accounts, ensuring proper allocation to job costs, departments, or projects.
* Create cheques; prepare for signing and then distribution;
* Answer any payroll related inquiries from the field operations team;
* Prepare new employee orientation packages;
* Enter and maintain/update employee data (hard copy and electronic copy);
* General office administration as required.
*Qualifications:*
* College Diploma/Certificate in Bookkeeping/Accounting or Payroll a requirement
* 1-3 years of experience within a payroll role
* 1-3 years of experience accounting software programs
* 1-3 years of experience in construction an asset
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and writing
* Superior attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
* Goal oriented and works well under pressure
* Deadline driven
* Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities
