Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Remote location. Various locations. Tasks: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Mountain driving expertise. Load and unload goods. Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Transport and handle dangerous goods. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : AZ class license. Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks). Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Documentation knowledge: Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Type of trucking and equipment: Extended length tractor-trailer combination. Transportation/travel experience: Local. National. Regional. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Overtime required. Repetitive tasks. Sitting. Weight handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs). Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills.
