The Real Estate, Facilities and Economic Development department has an exciting regular full time opportunity for an experienced and strategic Manager, Economic Development to join their team. Reporting to the Director, Real Estate, Facilities and Economic Development, you will lead the economic development work in the City and represent the City on economic development matters regionally and provincially. You will develop and implement economic development initiatives, policies, plans and programs and lead a team engaged in a variety of work throughout the City. You will also respond to economic development enquiries and build and maintain relationships with City staff, government organizations, business and community groups and other organizations that promote and facilitate economic development. The delivery of services to the business community, including business licencing, liquor-related permissions, and other enabling services are also overseen by this role. In addition, you will be responsible for preparing reports, delivering presentations and providing professional economic development advice to Council and City Staff. You will have a degree in a relevant discipline with considerable related work experience with a proven professional track record in economic development leadership; demonstrated understanding of business operations; solid organizational and strategic planning skills; policy and program development and the ability to build and leverage robust networks to achieve ambitious goals. You will have proven interpersonal and management skills including the ability to guide and direct a team of professionals, as well as the ability to take initiative, work independently, communicate effectively verbally and in writing with elected officials, stakeholders, and the general public. Experience working in local government and knowledge of current municipal economic issues will be an asset. A valid BC Class 5 drivers' license is also required for this position. We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule. The salary range is $141,540 to $165,348 (2024 rates).
