Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Noisy. At heights. Dusty. Confined spaces. Work setting: Relocation costs not covered by employer. Manufacture. Industrial. Tasks: Interpret engineering drawings and others' instructions to plan methods and sequences of operation. Lay out reference points and patterns. Plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal most efficiently. Assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures. Weld or bolt sections together. Construct patterns and templates. Install fabricated components in final product. Rig, hoist and move materials to storage areas or within worksite. Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes. Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment. Interpret welding process specifications. Operate oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC). Operate hoisting and lifting equipment. Type of materials: Titanium and special alloys. Stainless steel. Nickel alloys. Non-ferrous materials. Steel, iron and heavy metals. Welding techniques: TIG. Flux core arc welding (FCAW). Gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG). Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). Equipment and machinery experience: Cutting torches. Grinder. Gas welding machine. Arc welding machine. Area of specialization: Platework. Pressure vessels. Tanks. Boilers. Custom fabrication. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Manual dexterity. Hand-eye co-ordination. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Attention to detail. Standing for extended periods.
