We are located 50 km southwest of Williams Lake in Alkali Lake, BC. The Sxoxomic Community School enrolls 63 students from kindergarten to Grade 9. We pride ourselves on creating a unique, student- centered learning environment that embraces Secwepemc values as the foundation for grades K4-9. We promote holistic development that nurtures growth academically, spiritually, emotionally and physically. Students and families are also welcomed into a dynamic and supportive learning community that extends outside of the classroom walls.<p>Necessary Qualifications :<p><p> The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the principal of school <p> Completion of a recognized Education Assistant course and/or an ECE trained worker<p> Experience and/or training working with groups of children in a school or other educational setting<p> Training and experience with students challenging behaviors<p> Demonstrated ability to employ effective behavior management techniques<p> Physically capable of performing all duties of the job<p><p>What we require: <p><p> Under the direction of the teacher, provide educational assistance in learning activities for students<p> Working one on one and in small groups<p> Assist with school supervision before and after school and during recess and lunch break<p> Cultural and ability sensitive as well as trauma informed<p> Patience and understanding while managing children with diverse learning needs<p> Uses adapted strategies/activities to accommodate individual learner needs/styles.<p> Will be flexible to work within the entire school setting when unscheduled changes arise.<p> Has valid BC Drivers License (Class 5) or N.<p> Knowledge of First Nations Culture and working in a First Nations community is an asset.- LocationAlkali Lake, BC
